James Kitchin Enters County Executive Race with Focus on 'Kitchen Table Issues'
James Kitchin has entered the Anne Arundel County Executive race with a focus on what he calls “kitchen table issues” — the everyday concerns that matter most to county residents. His platform centers on five key priorities: traffic, schools, public safety, the environment, and affordability.
Kitchin is the first candidate to announce he will run entirely on the county’s public campaign finance system, accepting only small-dollar donations of $250 or less and refusing corporate money.
“I grew up here and I’m raising my kids here. I want Anne Arundel County to remain a place where hopefully my wife and I will choose to retire.”
A lifelong Anne Arundel County resident and Arundel High School graduate, Kitchin served as a high school teacher before joining County Executive Steuart Pittman’s administration in 2018 as community engagement officer, later becoming special assistant.
