Kitchin Announces Candidacy for Anne Arundel County Executive
James Kitchin has officially announced his candidacy for Anne Arundel County Executive. Kitchin, who has served on the senior management team in County Executive Steuart Pittman’s administration since 2018, enters the race as the first candidate to commit to running entirely on the county’s public campaign finance system.
“I am running for County Executive to elevate community voices in our decision making, and to do that we must get big monied interests out of our elections,” Kitchin said.
Kitchin brings deep experience in local government, having restructured the Office of Community Engagement and Constituent Services during his time in the Pittman administration. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy with a focus on the governance of cities and suburbs, and began his career as a high school history and government teacher.
