James Kitchin has been verified to receive public campaign financing in the Anne Arundel County Executive race, making him the first candidate to qualify under the county’s new system.
The public campaign finance system, established by Bill 25-23, requires candidates for County Executive to raise $40,000 in qualifying contributions from county residents and receive donations from 500 individual county residents before becoming eligible for matching public funds.
Kitchin’s qualification demonstrates the viability of the public financing model and his broad base of grassroots support across the county.
